Lucky you to have such locations around for painting..
Anyway, when I’ve made a painting no matter whether plein air or from reference, I find it more easy to judge what works and what does’nt when I leave it for some days and then return to look at it with fresh eyes..
Another thing I’ve learned over their years, is that when something does’nt work in a painting, it’s most often the values that’s the problem..In this particular painting of yours the problem with the bridge is precisely that the value of the lover part is almost identical to the terrain behind, and thus in separable from it - which tends to confuse the viewer..
